2026 Drone Flight Restrictions in Cork — UGZ‑T2 Explained

Richard Coleman 15 February 2026 5 min read

The IAA has established Temporary UGZ T2 restrictions covering Cork City Centre, the Docklands, Douglas, Mayfield, and Ballyvolane. Here's what it means for drone operations — and how Drone Solutions Ireland stays fully compliant.

The Irish Aviation Authority has established Temporary UGZ T2—active from 19 February 2026 to 13 May 2026 under Aeronautical Notice U.04 Issue 29.6—to support safe Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations across Cork.

Areas now under restriction include Douglas, Cork City Centre, the Docklands, Mayfield, and Ballyvolane. Daytime operations in these zones require prior authorisation.

Drone Solutions Ireland holds full Operational Authorisation issued in accordance with EU Regulation (EU) 2019/947, enabling us to operate within restricted airspace under the Specific Category.

Our compliance commitments: we secure all required permissions before missions, submit Prior Permission Required (PPR) requests within two-day windows, and maintain coordinated Visual Line of Sight operations aligned with IAA directives.

Safety, compliance, and responsible airspace use are at the core of everything we do. If you need a survey within the restricted zone, contact us — we handle all authorisations on your behalf.
